There are approximately 14.4 cubic inches per cup. It's okay if you are off by a cubic inch or so. There are two different sizes for measuring cups in the USA! Also, it's hard to get an exact measurement with a ruler. So, as long as you are in the range of 13 to 15 cubic inches, you did just fine.
