Speak Agent presenting research experiences at Serious Play Conference

Written by Dan LaFountain | July 06, 2018

As game-based learning has become an important feature in the implementation of edtech in schools, conferences like Serious Play have become important vehicles for promoting integration of research and learning science into the field. Our CEO, Ben Grimley, will present the session "Proving Game Efficacy: Your Most Important Next Step" on Tuesday, July 10th at 11:40 a.m. in Novant Rehearsal at the George Mason University Hylton Performing Arts Center (http://www.seriousplay-dc.com/2018-conference-program/). The Serious Play Conference is a leadership conference for those who create serious games/simulations and those who implement game-based learning programs. One of our goals this year was to prove the efficacy of Speak Agent (✅) and this session will discuss how other companies can go about doing that to build products which will have a true impact on student's learning.

Abstract for *Proving Game Efficacy: Your Most Important Next Step*

  • Whether you work at a non-profit or for-profit, creating games/sims with positive learning outcomes is your mission. It’s also critical to your success. This session will share perspectives from a principal investigator and edtech co-founder who has led studies for the US Department of Education, NSF, school systems, and media companies. It will include a robust, audience-driven discussion on these topics:
    • What “effective” means to K-12 stakeholders
    • Study designs, partners, and populations
    • Fidelity of implementation
    • Funding and budgeting
    • Risks
