New Math+Language Strategies Workspace

Written by Ben Grimley | September 17, 2020

Earlier this week we announced the launch of the ELL Digital Strategies Workspace, in partnership with Digital Promise. Now we have launched a similar resource for K-8 Math, the Math+Language Strategies Workspace. This new Workspace explores active Math+Language learning strategies for acquiring math skills such as math communication, math reasoning, modeling, and algebraic thinking, as well as cognitive and SEL factors such as working memory and motivation

The Math+Language Strategies Workspace compiles digital resources and information such as articles, professional learning videos, tools, examples, research citations, and cross-cutting strategies. You may also clone our Workspace and build your own custom one on DigitalPromise.org.

We co-created the new Workspace as a way to address the longstanding equity gap that has been exacerbated by the pandemic. It is also a helpful resource for our school district partners who need additional context for our logic model for Title I and III ESSA grants. Lastly, the Workspace provides a useful set of resources for further professional learning as a follow-up to the Speak Agent Academic Language Strategies course.
